GRE Overview

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test that is a mandatory admissions requirement for most Graduate Schools in the United States and also other Countries. The score is generally valid for 5 years. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor.

GRE Components & Test Format

Verbal Reasoning – 2 Sections - Testing Time 35 Minutes – Score Scale from 130-170 in 1-Point Increment

Quantitative Reasoning- 2 Sections - Testing Time 35 Minutes- Score Scale from 130-170 in 1-Point Increment

Analytic Writing – 2 Essays - Testing Time 30 Minutes - Score Scale from 0-6 in .5 point Increment Issue Task – Essay writing about a selected topic - Testing Time 30 Minutes

Argument Task - A argument is given and will be asked to write an essay that critiques the argument – Testing Time 30 Minutes

Experimental Section: Either Math or Verbal (Not Scored)

The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections are section-level adaptive, meaning that the first section of the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning measures spans a range of difficulty levels, from easy to difficult. The second section of each of the measures is administered based on a test taker’s overall performance on the first section. In GRE English vocabulary is strongly tested.

GRE Test Fees: $205 Approx.

 

The total Test Time is approximately 3 – 4 Hours.
